Moody Strategically Realigning for Longterm Vitality and Impact

Moody Bible Institute announced today that it is strategically realigning its ministries and resources as part of its Vision 2030 journey to double its impact – reach 20 million people by 2030.

“While many institutions are struggling financially, Moody remains strong by God’s grace and a longstanding commitment to sound, biblical stewardship,” Moody Bible Institute’s president, Dr. Mark Jobe, reflected. “We are debt-free, with healthy reserves and steady revenue. Still, rising costs and evolving ministry demands have led us to take a necessary look at how we operate.”

After much prayer and careful operational analysis, Moody will enter Fiscal Year 2025-2026 with a balanced budget and is committed to a clear plan to position Moody for long-term health and greater Kingdom impact. Moody announced the following:

  • Education: Moody is re-aligning its undergraduate programs to support future growth while streamlining some operations. For example, through Moody Online, and pending accreditation, it will be offering a three-year bachelor’s degree in business administration with a strong biblical foundation consistent with its commitment to deep theological training for all students. Moody Aviation plans to elevate and expand its presence to meet growing demands for mission aviation graduates. Moody’s Education division continues to grow through their five campuses: Chicago undergraduateMoody Theological Seminary (Chicago and Plymouth), Moody Aviation in Spokane, and Moody Online.
  • Pastor and Leadership Training: Moody is exponentially expanding the number of pastors and leaders they are training internationally in various languages through the Moody Global Campus.
  • Media: Moody Radio will transition to a national network format to expand its reach through Christ-centered programming while expanding its digital presence to connect with new audiences. The goal is to reach 100 million people each week in 10 years. With this, Moody Radio is launching a new nationally broadcast morning program – “Karl and Crew” – a dynamic, spirit-led program designed to uplift and encourage listeners each day. Moody is also expanding its print and digital publishing efforts to serve more people globally.

Moody also announced a reduction in staffing as part of its overall strategic realignment of its ministry and resources. “This is one of the hardest decisions we have had to make as we seek to steward well the resources the Lord has entrusted to us,” said Jobe. “These are not just roles—they are valued team members, co-laborers in Christ, and close friends who have served faithfully and we are committed walking with them through this change with care and respect.”

While there are cultural and economic headwinds, God’s hand is clearly at work in the 139-year-old ministry.

  • Enrollment has been rising over the past three semesters at Moody.
  • Indigenous pastors across Africa and Asia are being trained through its Moody Global Campus initiative, with 1,700 students graduating in August, for example.
  • Moody Publishers is growing and thriving.

“God is using our efforts at Moody in powerful ways and I believe He is preparing us for even more as we boldly move into a new season of ministry,” Jobe concluded.
