FAQ

General Questions

What is CMB?

Christian Music Broadcasters was started in 2002 by a group of 70 industry professionals who wanted to focus primarily on Christian music radio. The purpose has always been to increase the awareness and influence of music-driven Christian radio.

What is CMB's mission?

CMB recognizes that in a world that’s increasingly looking for more, it’s time to amplify what they’re searching for. CMB does that by giving radio professionals the visibility in today’s saturated markets to be seen and heard more, through industry thought leadership and resources that are designed to equip you for greater impact across all multimedia platforms. When that happens, it’s giving more platform to the Gospel message so that more people, in more places, are reached for Jesus. For CMB, that’s always worth broadcasting.

How can I learn more about CMB and it's resources?

In addition to exploring this website to see the wide range of resources offered, you are invited to join one of CMB’s Forums suited for your area of interest at your station. These free email forums connect you with other industry leaders and are a great place to start. At noon (CT) on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, CMB offers a free webinar to help empower radio to reach more people with the Gospel message. Of course, attending CMB events is the best way to bring you closer to the CMB community. You’ll get an up close view of all of the educational opportunities and resources available to give more platform to the Gospel message so that more people, in more places, are reached for Christ. How does CMB give back?

CMB serves the broadcasting community by providing a variety of opportunities to empower Christian music radio professionals. CMB, in partnership with radio stations who want to invest in others, offers event scholarships to those individuals who have a financial need. Additionally, that money subsidizes college professors who want to attend Momentum with their students through the Carl Fletcher scholarship.

Not only do students receive a discount to Momentum, in 2019 CMB created something specifically for them called CMB University. This is an opportunity for CMB to pour into the next generation of broadcasters. It is a two-day event for college students, aged 18-24, interested in pursuing a career in broadcasting. CMBU brings students together as well as industry professionals who are passionate about investing in students. Taking place in November in Nashville, CMBU is full of education, networking, fun and even a few surprises. The price is right for students so that there are no financial barriers. Learn more about this unique opportunity at cmbuniversity.org.

Lastly, CMB Mentoring was introduced in 2021 as a way to invest in a leader’s personal growth and development. It’s a 7 month long program tailored for radio professionals.

What types of mentoring programs are offered?

CMB Mentoring was started in 2021 as a way to invest in a leader’s personal growth and development. Industry veteran Alan Mason (former president of EMF – K-LOVE & Air1) created a radio leadership curriculum that best suits radio’s needs. It’s not something that can be learned in school, but rather from the experience of others in radio. This 7 month long program brings leaders together who desire to grow in their leadership and provides a personal mentor for each participant.

What kind of education does CMB provide?

You will find resources on our website that will help you in your role at your station. Those resources include the MEDIABASE chartsTroy ResearchBest Practices and more. CMB Members have access to in-depth resources such as research projects like the TechSurvey report, CMB Salary Survey and more. At noon (CT) on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, CMB offers a free webinar to help empower radio to reach more people with the Gospel message. Additionally, CMB events are designed to bring you closer to the CMB community. You’ll get an up close view of all of the educational opportunities and resources available to give more platform to the Gospel message.

Do I have to be a CMB Member to get the resources?

There are several opportunities available to everyone, including the CMB Forums, Monthly Webinars, and website Best Practices.

Where is the best place to learn more specifically about growing in my position at my station?

From the Workshops to the Breakouts, there is something for everyone (leadership, programming, promotions, marketing, digital, social, business development, revenue, and more). Another resource for you is the Momentum Summits. They are tailored to a specific area at your station.
