88.3 WAFJ Becomes The JOY FM

On Tuesday, January 20, 88.3 WAFJ, Part of Radio Training Network, will become The JOY FM. The station’s Contemporary Christian Music format will remain the same, and the station will retain its local staff, led by John Bryant, station manager. News, traffic, weather, and local businesses are part of ongoing programming as well. New initiatives include The JOY Crew, a local street team that will expand the ability of WAFJ to be involved in community events, concerts, and church outreaches.

The new weekday lineup will include The Morning Cruise with Dave, Bill, and Carmen (6-10 a.m.), Candice Grey (10-3), The Jayar Show (3-7), Michelle Tellone (7-midnight), and Sandy James (overnights). The mission of RTN is to reach as many people as possible with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ through relevant media. Carmen Brown of the Morning Cruise is also the VP of Programming for the network. “One thing that defines us is our love for the gospel. We are SO excited to share gospel-centered programming and to do life with listeners in the CSRA!”

John Bryant echoed Carmen’s words. “This new chapter represents some big changes for 88.3 WAFJ, changes that God seems to have been leading for some time. I look forward to serving the CSRA in even more effective ways as our ministry will now have access to resources that will allow us to do even more.”
