WGTS 91.9 Part of 44th Easter Service at the Lincoln Memorial
(Washington, D.C.) – National Community Church in Washington, D.C., partnered with WGTS 91.9 to welcome thousands of people from across the area to the Easter Sunrise service on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. This year marked the 44th year of this service, which celebrates Jesus’ resurrection.
Pastor Mark Batterson shared a message of hope, recapping how, 2,000 years ago, everyone would have bet that Rome would live on perpetually. But Pastor Batterson said, “Roman coins said ‘Caesar is Lord.’ Two thousand years later, Caesar is a salad, and we are here to declare that Jesus is Lord.”
For the past two years, WGTS has partnered with National Community Church to bring believers and those curious to come down to the National Mall to hear the most remarkable story ever. This year, WGTS partnered with Pastor Batterson to create an online video series explaining Easter and inviting them to the service.
“Washington, D.C., is a great place to invite listeners and tourists from all 50 states and worldwide to come and worship Jesus together. It’s exciting to play a small role in that,” said WGTS morning show host and marketing director Jerry Woods.
