The JOY FM’s T-Shirts for Turkeys 2023 Breaks Record
The JOY FM listening family broke previous records in collecting turkeys for needy families in their 19th annual T-Shirts for Turkeys, food drive, November 6-9, 2023. Listeners in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama provided 37,423 turkeys for holiday meals for tens-of-thousands of food-insecure families in the listening areas. That number marks an estimated 7,000 turkey increaseover 2022. The outreach is a partnership with ministries and food banks, including the Florida Dream Center, the Salvation Army, Tampa’s Metropolitan Ministries and Real Life Center and The Pantry in the Atlanta area.
T-Shirts for Turkeys is an annual event held in as many cities in The JOY FM listening area as possible. This year it covered more than 65 individual “turkey stops” in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. The JOY FM staff and volunteers passed out newly-designed JOY FM t-shirts in exchange for a frozen turkey or “paper turkey” ($10.00). All proceeds went directly to the recipient organizations.
