The Hot Chart Making Changes
The Hot Chart, the industry’s volunteer-led chart tracking hotter Christian music radio playlists, will implement significant changes in the coming weeks, including a move to monitored playlists.
Starting February 15th, The Hot Chart will transition to focus exclusively on Christian CHR (Contemporary Hit Radio) programming. This strategic shift follows the launch of a dedicated CHH (Christian Hip-Hop) chart by Muzooka, available at https://charts-staging.muzooka.com/charts/hip-hop.
The following stations have already transitioned from The Hot Chart to the new Muzooka CHH chart:
- Holy Culture
- Flo
- KOAY
- NGEN
- LF Radio
- The Heat
- Energy
- HOT
- BOOST
The Hot Chart will simultaneously introduce a redesigned interface with new features. Additional Christian CHR stations are being added to the reporter panel to strengthen data collection across the format. Stations already added include KLOVE POP, 107.1 The X, and Tim FM. Other CHR stations are encouraged to join the reporting panel at https://thehotchart.com/about-the-chart/.
The new version of the Hot Chart will feature station monitoring utilizing technology developed by Radioservers, LLC. The new system will replace self-reporting spins by stations.
The Hot Chart was created in 2015 by Bob Thornton and Mike Couchman to provide industry transparency on Hit Christian music radio airplay. Couchman has transitioned from his leadership role as BOOST Radio moves to the Muzooka CHH chart. “Mike is the GOAT of CHH radio. He has championed the format, been a ground-breaker, and an incredible leader for years. I want to thank him and his station for hundreds of hours of volunteer work on The Hot Chart”, said Bob Thornton of KXOJ and Radioservers.
Going forward, Radioservers will provide administrative support for The Hot Chart. The chart remains a 100% volunteer, non-profit effort. Stations currently reporting to The Hot Chart should continue weekly submissions. Interested stations and volunteers are encouraged to contact Bob Thornton at bob.thornton@smgnational.com.
