The Bridge Organizes First Single Mom Saturday

Seventy single moms all received free oil changes from participating service centers during the first Single Mom Saturday, organized by The Bridge and sponsored by Delaware Electric Cooperative. A single mom who recently moved to Delaware from New York took part in Single Mom Saturday. Her eight-year-old suggested she apply after hearing The Bridge advertisement offering “single, hard-working moms” a free oil change. He said that was her! They found The Bridge and now they love listening as a family.

One single mom drove from Salisbury, MD to Milford, DE. She shared about the many struggles and challenges she faces, and The Bridge team member on site listened like a friend. By the end of the oil change, she was so grateful and left feeling “seen for the first time in a long while.” In the words of another single mom, “I’m deeply grateful for the oil change and the lovely mug with the inspiring words ‘You are loved!’ It warmed my heart and lifted my spirit. As a single mom to a child with Down Syndrome, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and isolated. Your generosity was a timely reminder that I’m seen and loved.”

The Bridge was able to pray and share Jesus with these single moms. The ladies saw the goodness of God through The Bridge and the participating service centers. In Delaware, the generous service centers include Price Honda in Camden, Price Premier in Rehoboth, Meineke Car Care in Milford, and Frederick Ford in Seaford. The Maryland sites who gave time and resources to bless single moms were Preston Nissan in Hurlock, and Gibbons Auto Parts and Repairs in Pocomoke City. Whalen’s Auto in Cape May blessed South New Jersey single moms with exceptional service.

The first Single Mom Saturday was a huge success for The Bridge is a network of Christian-formatted radio stations serving Delaware, Maryland, South Jersey, and the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The Bridge connects and strengthens the community through special events such as concerts, seminars, food distributions, the Drive Thru Connection, online Prayer Works, and much more.
