Radio Research Consortium Announces New Memorial Scholarship
Radio Research Consortium (RRC) announced the creation of The Tom and Joanne Church Memorial Scholarship, the purpose of which is to support the first-time attendance of a staff member at a non-commercial radio station at the industry conference of their choice. RRC Chief Operating Officer Molly Davis commented, “Both Tom and Joanne believed in the value of conference attendance for professional development and saw how learning opportunities presented at conferences help build connections with colleagues and can spark new ideas, strategies, and mission-driven growth. Our goal with this scholarship is to make it possible for one of our station colleagues to attend a non-commercial radio industry conference for the very first time. We’re proud to be able to honor Tom and Joanne’s legacy in this way.”
The Tom and Joanne Church Memorial Scholarship is a program of the Radio Research Consortium, and was provided further support from Izzi Smith of Listen Again Tomorrow, LLC. One (1) scholarship will be awarded to an employee at a non-commercial radio station to support their first-time attendance at an industry conference, and a demonstration of financial need may be taken into consideration when reviewing applications. The scholarship will pay up to $2,500 to cover the cost of conference registration, hotel accommodation, and transportation to and from the conference city (airfare, train fare, or mileage), and will be disbursed to the station following delivery of associated receipts. Interested parties may apply on the RRC website; the deadline is April 15 , 2025, after which the RRC staff and board will review applications and select a scholarship recipient. The winner will be notified by April 30th, 2025. The RRC stipulates that it reserves the right not to award the scholarship if the nature of the applications does not merit the award and that the scholarship is not transferable.
