Over 700 Guests Kick off the School Year with 91.3 WCSG
Last week, WCSG held their Back to School Celebration, an event inviting children from every corner of West Michigan to celebrate the upcoming school year through an afternoon filled with music, activities, and school supply giveaways—all for free.
Only in its third year, the event expanded its reach by including area business, ministry, and civic partners to create a welcoming space on the campus of WCSG where kids could feel valued and cared for by their entire community. The number of guests triple compared to last year, with children from across every demographic participating; some familiar with WCSG while others experiencing the positive presence of Christian community for the very first time.
“This year was full of wonderful surprises,” says Josh Modert, Promotions and Events Coordinator for WCSG. “Area organizations were quick to partner with us as sponsors. From area businesses and ministries to the local police department, everyone was enthusiastic about participating. And the families who joined us really exemplified the incredible diversity found in our community. I truly I hope that everyone who joined us felt seen and loved, not only by us, but by the God we try to represent well.”
Listeners were invited to donate basic school materials in the weeks leading up the event, a call that was met with overwhelming enthusiasm and generosity—truly making this a community-wide collaboration exemplifying WCSG’s message that we are stronger together than we could ever be apart.
