KSWP/KAVX Unites Community Leaders to prepare for Hurricane Season

For the fourth year in a row, KSWP/KAVX hosted church and community leaders in preparation for hurricane season. In this short time period, the Church and Community Emergency Response Team (CCERT) has grown to over 40 organizational members representing people from all across East Texas and Western Louisiana. Created by KSWP to serve as a communication hub and provide reliable life-saving and life-giving information when a storm or major emergency occurs.

Jason Hansford, Senior Meteorologist with the National Weather Service let them team members know that this hurricane season is predicted to be one of the most active seasons he has seen in his nearly three decades with the weather service.

President/GM, Michelle Ross, who led the meeting said, “We love our community and it great to see so many organizations and churches want to work together. We hope that the storm season isn’t as active as they predict but our community will be ready if it does.”

CCERT continues to grow each year as a valuable lifeline to our community.
