Family Life Radio Remembers Former Broadcast Leader Mike Brinks

Family Life Radio (FLR) is honoring the life and legacy of Mike Brinks, a former broadcast leader whose vision, technical expertise and heart for ministry helped shape the growth of the FLR network and its mission to share hope across the country.

Brinks joined FLR in 2001 after serving in Christian broadcasting and media production for decades. As Vice President of Broadcasting, he played an instrumental role in expanding FLR’s network beyond Tucson and Michigan into additional markets, including Texas, Florida and California. His leadership also helped strengthen the ministry’s presence in Detroit through the purchase and development of WDRQ, later renamed WUFL.

“Mike was one of those rare people who understood both the technical side of broadcasting and the ministry purpose behind it,” said Adam Nash Biddell, chief broadcast officer for FLR. “He knew every transmitter, every signal and every expansion effort ultimately existed to reach people with hope. His impact on Family Life Radio and on Christian broadcasting will continue to be felt for years to come.”

Brinks went on to serve at FLR as Director of Signal Development and Compliance Officer, continuing to use his knowledge of broadcasting to support the ministry’s mission. He served faithfully until November 2019, when a stroke left him unable to return to work.

Before joining FLR, Brinks’ career included groundbreaking work in sports, media and ministry. In 1972, he became the first person hired by an NBA team to record practices and games for training purposes while working with the Golden State Warriors. He and his wife, Karen, later traveled together filming faith-based seminars, and he went on to serve with ministries and organizations including Colorado Christian University, Promise Keepers and Focus on the Family.

Brinks passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026. Family Life Radio joins Mike’s wife, Karen, daughter, Anna, grandchildren, former colleagues and many across the Christian radio industry in celebrating his life and grieving his loss.
