Lanser Broadcasting Names Abbi Hess as New General Manager

Lanser Broadcasting, home to Joy99 and JoyWorship, is pleased to announce the appointment of Abbi Hess as its new General Manager.
The appointment follows the passing of Lanser Broadcasting founder Les Lanser on July 30, 2026. Les worked at the stations for 58 years and owned them for 43, pioneering the move to Contemporary Christian music in January 1987—a decision that reshaped Christian radio in West Michigan and established a format the market has embraced for nearly four decades.
Hess joined the stations in 2016 and has served in a variety of roles throughout the organization. Formerly known as Abbi Lanser, she is the third generation of the Lanser family to be involved in running the stations.
Brad Lanser will continue in a leadership and ownership role, providing overall vision and guidance as the organization enters this next chapter.
“I am the third generation of our family to be involved in running these stations, and I am honored to continue carrying on the mission and vision,” Hess said. “It is a blessing to follow in the legacy that has been built here. Our commitment has not changed: bringing encouragement and the love of Jesus to this community, every day, on every signal we operate.”
As General Manager, Hess will oversee the day-to-day leadership of Lanser Broadcasting, continuing the mission established by previous generations while leading Joy99 and JoyWorship into the future.
