Brighter Media Group and Peter & John Ministries announce the passing of John Thomas “Tom” Bisset on October 30, 2025, at the age of 86.
“Tom was a pioneer who helped shape the direction of modern Christian radio,” remarks Steve Lawhon, General Manager of Brighter Media Group. “He stood out for his integrity, intellect, and quiet strength. He led with conviction, helping establish standards of clarity, excellence, and ministry focus that endure today.”
Under Tom’s leadership as General Manager, 95.1 WRBS earned the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Station of the Year Award in 1983. His influence extended beyond WRBS, playing an important early role in the creation of Dr. John MacArthur’s Grace To You, and encouraged fellow Baltimore native Dr. Tony Evans to expand The Alternative nationally. He also partnered with Dr. James Dobson, Dr. David Jeremiah, Joni Eareckson Tada, and other notable leaders, offering counsel and friendship that helped guide their ministries through seasons of growth.
Jon Bisset, President of Peter & John Ministries, adds, “My father’s influence was lasting and large, not because he sought prominence, but because he faithfully used his gifts to serve others. Above all, his deepest love was for his Savior, Jesus Christ, to whom he dedicated his life, his work, and his every effort.”
