WBCL Celebrates 50 Years of Ministry
WBCL/Fort Wayne is celebrating 50 years of ministry. Monday, January 12, marked five decades of sharing the hope of Jesus Christ through Christian radio.
The station first signed on the air in 1976 under the ownership of Fort Wayne Bible College, operating 18 hours a day with just two full-time employees.
Since then, WBCL has grown into a 24/7 ministry with more than 25 staff members. In 1992, ownership transferred to Taylor University following a merger between the two schools, further expanding the station’s mission and reach. Today, WBCL operates a 10-frequency radio network serving Northeast Indiana, Northwest and West Central Ohio, and South-Central Michigan.
To commemorate the milestone, WBCL will host a special “Nostalgia Week” throughout this week, featuring throwback audio, classic songs, and listener giveaways in celebration of the station’s legacy and faithful audience.
