WGTS 91.9 Listeners Support Moms Through ‘Covered with Love’ Diaper Drive

Throughout the spring, WGTS 91.9 listeners have supported mothers facing financial hardship by donating diapers. Since March, the “Covered with Love” diaper drive has collected nearly 70,000 diapers, which have been distributed to local churches, shelters, and diaper banks. The Hands and Heart initiative is part of the station’s ongoing community outreach efforts.

At one event, a mother arrived seeking assistance, and a line quickly formed behind her. WGTS provided diapers to every mother in line, distributing them from the station’s box truck.

“Since launching this project, I have gained a much deeper understanding of the importance of diapers,” said WGTS Director of Promotions and Community Engagement Ken Scribner. “They provide comfort for babies, preserve dignity for parents, and create a meaningful opportunity for WGTS to serve alongside many new community partners.

We were encouraged by how quickly 25 collection sites joined the effort. Because of that strong response, we are extending the drive through the summer with a new goal of collecting 100,000 diapers by the end of the season.”
