Shine.FM’s First Project Christmas Care A Success
In the 2024 holiday season, the team at the Shine.FM Network, through the generosity of listeners, helped provide Christmas gifts for four families (a total of 15 children) in need in the Shine.FM listening communities.
Four schools within the network coverage area were contacted, and the team was put in touch with social workers or administrators who selected a family for Shine.FM to help. The family or social worker provided a list of 25 items on Amazon, which was then posted as an Amazon wish list on the Shine.FM website for listeners to purchase items. In the three weeks of the promotion, all 103 gifts total were purchased thanks to listeners of the station, and on top of that, several donors gave above and beyond to provide grocery gift cards and a significant cash gift for each of the families and children as well.
When most of the gifts arrived at the station, the team celebrated with a wrapping party to wrap the gifts on December 11. The team delivered the gifts to three of the schools and to one family on December 16.
“It was an incredible opportunity to bless four families in our listening communities. One had been through a fire, one was grieving the loss of a parent, and one was facing such extreme need. To see the names of listeners as they purchased gifts was a blessing as well, knowing that they supported this, and it was a great opportunity to build connections with local schools,” says Program Director Megan Fathauer. “Our team hopes to do this again next year given the success that we had this year.”
