Matt Pelishek Adds Talent Coaching to Amlin Media Group
Christian Radio Consultant Amlin Media Group has spent the last year focusing on Music Consulting and Promotions & Events, working with stations across Ohio and Indiana via 104.9 The River, 90.3 WBCL, and their respective affiliates. The plan was always to offer talent coaching as well, and now that plan is coming to fruition as Matt Pelishek will be joining the team! Matt of course will continue as Program Director at KAXL in Bakersfield, California. But because Matt has mastered the art of time and space manipulation through a very long journey of martial arts training and SCI-FI binge watching, he will be using his free time to build into people and help them grow in their craft as an on-air talent and content creator.
(Todd Amlin – AMG Founder) I’ve gotten to know Matt really well over the years as we’ve attended a number of industry events together, and I can say without question that he’s one of the most talented people in radio. I love listening to him both on-air, on podcasts, and getting to talk with him in person. He really gets it, and yet, he’s one of the most humble people you’ll ever meet. One of the things I love about his approach is that he’s not trying to be a radio caricature. He’s just himself, which I believe has allowed him to build trust with his listeners. By building that trust, he now has the freedom to engage with them in a variety of ways, not just the narrow lens of some fictitious “center of the bullseye suburban soccer mom”. When I listen to Matt he sounds so natural, so real and authentic. I can imagine KAXL listeners thinking, “this is a guy I’d love to hang out with in real life”.
Matt has led KAXL to being a highly respected station in the industry winning CMB and NRB awards, as well as him personally being named “Best Radio Personality” in his market. But more importantly, Matt is a guy whose joy is contagious and who has dedicated his life to sharing Jesus and loving people.
(Amlin adds) Matt is our kind of guy so the fit is flawless. We started AMG because we felt like there was a need to see new faces with big dreams and bold ideas enter the space. This is a format that has largely adhered to the same philosophies for decades. The problem is, the landscape of music and content has changed radically in just the last 4-5 years alone so we’ve got to start getting creative and be willing to try new things. Matt won’t be telling you what worked in radio back in his day when he was doing it. He’ll help you connect to TODAY’S listeners which he does with excellence day in and day out.
(Pelishek says) I was never great at coloring inside the lines, and have always been more interested in how going outside the lines can create a more interesting and unique picture. My goal isn’t to reign anyone into the old “radio standard”, but to help you create something that only YOU can create, and build strong relationships with your audience. A lot of our industry wants to teach you the “rules” of radio to create experts, I’d rather focus on how to break them to create artists.
