Moody Publishers Releases “This is Moody Radio”
In 1926, Moody Radio aired its first broadcast of live music and Bible teaching in Chicago. The new station—fueled by a passion for spreading the good news—was followed by decades of innovation. Moody Publishers’ recently released This Is Moody Radio tells the incredible story of Christian broadcasting through the eyes of its pioneers.
“This is Moody Radio captures in such a beautiful and powerful way the history, stories, and the driving purpose for which Moody Radio was launched—to proclaim the gospel,” said Wes Ward, vice president of Moody Global Media. “When Moody Bible Institute went live on air via Moody Radio, it was pioneering new ways to share the gospel with wider audiences. We continue in that same spirit today as we seek to reach new and existing audiences with podcasts, social media, apps, websites, and other digital channels.”
Written by Kevin Mungons and Phil Shappard, this book is a fast-paced, visual history with hundreds of photos. Readers will quickly grasp Moody Radio’s long commitment to encouraging, uplifting content and community service.
“We loved writing this book—after wading through thousands of documents, photos and newspaper clippings, we picked the best stories from 100 years of Christian radio history,” said Mungons, a Chicago writer and editor. Shappard, who served as Moody Radio’s national operations manager and retired after 35 years, added, “The work of Moody Radio was built with a pioneering spirit—a culture of innovation in ministry that continues to this day.”
