Mike Couchman Named Chief Programming Officer Over Pillar Media

Pillar Media welcomes Mike Couchman as the chief programming officer, overseeing Pillar Media’s STAR 99.1 (WAWZ), STAR 93.3 (WAKW), STAR 101.5 (KSRC), THE NEW FLO 107.1 (KFCO), and AM910 (KPOF).

“Serving with the team at BOOST Radio/JOY FM/WorshipOne has been an incredible privilege,” Couchman said. “I’ll always be grateful for what God allowed me to be part of. I’m also excited to see what He’s doing at Pillar Media and honored to be part of what He has in store next.”

Mike Couchman brings over 30 years of experience in broadcasting across multiple formats, serving in Christian radio programming for the last 26 years. Couchman comes most recently from Gateway Creative Communications in St. Louis, MO, serving as Operations Manager for BOOST Radio Network, 99.1 JOY FM (KLJY), and 88.1WorshipOne (KLJT).

At Gateway, he helped create BOOST Radio and lead its growth from one St. Louis signal to a national network broadcasting on 25 signals across the U.S. He also played a key role in the success of 99.1 JOY FM (KLJY), helping establish it as one of St. Louis’ highest-rated stations and a consistent top performer in the market.

“We are truly grateful to welcome Mike Couchman to our team,” said Art Garza, executive director of Pillar Media. “His experience, programming expertise, heart, and vision align with our mission, and we believe God has uniquely equipped him to lead our programming team forward.”

Couchman succeeds Matt Stockman, who recently announced his departure to pursue radio and non-profit consulting full time.

“I am incredibly proud of the programming team at Pillar Media,” said Stockman. “Entrusting their next chapter to another leader isn’t easy, but I am so excited for the future of our stations with Mike Couchman at the helm.”

Couchman will begin his new role on November 16 and will be based in Pillar Media’s Aurora office. Stockman will stay on through the transition.
