Mandisa and TobyMac Help Start the Day for Artemis II Astronauts

A powerful blend of music and history greeted the Artemis II astronauts during a recent wake-up call in space. At 10:50 a.m. Eastern, the crew awoke to “Good Morning” by Mandisa and TobyMac to start their day. To make it even more incredible, following the song, they heard the voice of Apollo legend Jim Lovell, recorded before his passing in August.

Lovell, who piloted Apollo 8 and commanded Apollo 13, welcomed the crew as they journeyed around the moon, which he fondly called his “old neighborhood.” In his message, he reflected on humanity’s first close view of the moon and encouraged the Artemis II team to carry that legacy forward as they pave the way toward future missions to Mars. He closed with a heartfelt reminder to “enjoy the view,” offering a moving sendoff: “Good luck and Godspeed from all of us here on the good Earth.”
