FEBC Breaks Ground on New Ministry Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Far East Broadcasting Company (FEBC) leaders, staff, ministry partners and friends gathered in Phnom Penh for a groundbreaking and prayer ceremony marking the beginning of construction on a new FEBC Ministry Center for Voice of Love Cambodia. This is an important investment in the future of Gospel ministry in Cambodia and throughout Southeast Asia.
The new facility represents the next phase of a significant expansion of FEBC’s ministry in Cambodia. A new broadcast tower and transmitter, which became operational in mid-2025, now gives FEBC the potential to reach approximately 80 percent of Cambodia’s population by radio. The new Ministry Center will build upon that expanded reach by providing modern studios and production facilities for radio, podcasts, video, streaming and emerging digital platforms.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, FEBC leaders and staff gathered at the site to pray over the land, the construction project and, most importantly, the people whose lives will be transformed by the ministry that takes place there.
“This is about much more than constructing a building,” said Ed Cannon, President and CEO of FEBC USA. “We are building for the next generation of ministry in Cambodia; for those who come after us. Radio remains an extraordinarily important part of how we reach people, but today we also have opportunities through streaming, social media, podcasts, video and personal relationships that our founders could never have imagined. This center gives our Cambodia team the tools and space they need to remain close to the listener and share the hope of Jesus Christ for decades to come.”
The new Ministry Center will include expanded production facilities designed not only for traditional broadcasting but also for podcasts, both audio and video, as well as other video content. The first floor will feature meeting space where FEBC can welcome listeners, conduct conferences and training, host ministry gatherings and make the facility available to our ministry partners who are also engaged in fulfilling the Great Commission.
That ability to bring listeners together is a key part of FEBC’s strategy for the future. Rather than simply broadcasting to an audience, FEBC seeks to build relationships with listeners, connect them with local believers and churches, and create opportunities for people to respond personally to the Gospel.
“Our desire is to be close to the listener,” said Samphal Makara, National Ministry Director for FEBC Cambodia. “With the new tower, we can reach more people across Cambodia. With this new Ministry Center, we will have the space and technology to serve those listeners in new ways. We can create more relevant content, meet people face to face, strengthen local ministry partnerships and help more Cambodians hear and understand the Good News of Jesus Christ.”
The project has been funded through the generosity of donors who share FEBC’s vision for expanding Gospel ministry in Cambodia and Southeast Asia. Northwestern Media has played a vital role in the project, providing valuable technical and engineering consultation as well as generous financial support to help bring the new Ministry Center to life.

The Phnom Penh project comes during FEBC’s 80th anniversary year and reflects the organization’s commitment to preparing for its next 80 years of ministry. Similar expansion projects are currently in discussion and design stages in other parts of the FEBC world.
Founded in 1946, FEBC has continually adapted to changing technology while remaining committed to the same mission: communicating the Good News among the nations by media to inspire people to follow Jesus Christ. What began primarily as a radio ministry now reaches audiences through terrestrial broadcasting, digital audio, streaming, social media, video and other emerging platforms.
“The technology will continue to change,” Cannon said. “There will undoubtedly be ways of communicating 10 or 20 years from now that we cannot even imagine today. We want to build facilities and equip our national teams so they are ready to use those platforms when they arrive. The method may change, but our mission does not: Until All Have Heard.”
For FEBC Cambodia, the groundbreaking is therefore more than the beginning of a construction project. It is a tangible commitment to the future and a place from which the Gospel can be broadcast, streamed, shared and lived out in personal relationships for generations to come. Construction is expected to take approximately 12 to 15 months.
