Family Life Radio Receives Award of Excellence for Detroit 93.1FM Launch

Family Life Radio (FLR) was honored at the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) Southern Arizona Chapter IMPACT Awards, held on October 22, in recognition of the launch of their newest station, 93.1 FM in Detroit.

FLR earned an Award of Excellence in the category of General Marketing for its thorough approach to research, planning, implementation and the execution of both digital and on-air initiatives supporting the launch. The awards are judged by an impartial panel from a partner PRSA chapter in a different region, ensuring a fair and comprehensive assessment. “Great job breaking out your research into separate activities. It was easy to understand and follow, and it’s clear you thought through each audience,” noted one judge.

The campaign utilized a variety of tactics such as digital engagement and on-air messaging to introduce millions of new potential listeners, churches, and nonprofits to FLR’s mission, while also strengthening connections with existing donors in the Detroit area.

“This campaign exceeded our expectations not only in reach but in the depth of connection with listeners,” said Mike Kankelfritz, FLR’s Chief Broadcast Engagement Officer. “We’ve heard from people who, through seemingly small moments—like turning on the radio during a challenging day—found a renewed sense of faith and hope in Christ.”
