88.3 Life FM Turns $17,000 Advertising Award into Community-Wide Impact
When 88.3 Life FM was awarded $17,000 in television advertising as part of its Non-Profit of the Year honor, station leaders decided the prize could make a bigger impact if it benefited more than just one organization.
As part of the Non-Profit of the Year award, 88.3 Life FM received $17,000 in advertising credit from KGET, to be used on TV commercials. With permission from KGET, Life FM has shared its commercial slots with fellow local non-profits every month.
“Receiving this prize was both exciting and unexpected,” said Program Director Matt Pelishek. “As we looked at the other organizations serving our community, we realized this opportunity could have a much greater impact if it were shared. Our mission is to serve Bakersfield with the love of Jesus, and partnering with other organizations doing meaningful work is one of the best ways we can do that.”
To date, Life FM has split its award with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Magdalene Hope (human trafficking rescue program), The Bakersfield Pregnancy Center, and St. Vincent De Paul (homeless & low-income ministry), with several more to come this year, including Independence Through Grace (disability services) and Patrick’s Pantry.
