WGTS 91.9 Welcomes Listeners to Final Summer Concert With Blessing Offor
WGTS 91.9 had the privilege of welcoming over 4,500 listeners to the final concert of the “WGTS Summer Concert Series” featuring Blessing Offor and special guest Carly Ann Taylor.
This third annual end-of-summer concert is a joint promotion of the Frederick Seventh-day Adventist Church and WGTS 91.9. Everything at this event is a gift to the community. WGTS provides ice cream, Bibles and study guides, and other station promotional items. The church provides popcorn, snow cones, and a kids’ play zone. In addition, concertgoers donated over 4,500 diapers and hundreds of pounds of food for the Frederick Rescue Mission.
The church’s praise band, “Infusion,” opened the concert, followed by a short message from lead Pastor Morgan Kochenower, who talked about how Jesus gives us an invitation to rest in Him. New artist Carly Ann Taylor shared her music, including her hit “Why Should I Worry,” in front of what she called “the biggest show I’ve ever been a part of.” Blessing Offor rounded out the night singing all his favorites and finishing with a mash-up of his song “Brighter Days” with Prince’s “Purple Rain,” as the crowd joined in.
“When two ministries work so well together, we can do so much more,” says WGTS morning show host and marketing director Jerry Woods. “Every year our partnership gets stronger, and it helps us reach more of our community with a message of hope.”
Frederick Church associate pastor Alareece Collie shared, “At a time when so many people are experiencing loneliness and longing for genuine connection, creating spaces where community can deepen matters more than ever. Our concert brings people of all ages and backgrounds together to meet, connect, and enjoy an evening outdoors with family and friends. We keep the event free because we want it to be accessible to everyone. It is one way we love to use our resources to help make a difference in our community.”
WGTS has already begun planning next year’s concert series.
