WGTS 91.9 Partners With Local Churches to Bring New Festival to D.C. Area

For close to a decade, Christian music fans in D.C. had to drive several hours to go to a large Christian music festival. That all changed this year when a network of over 70 churches and WGTS 91.9 teamed up to bring “Unshaken Festival” to the D.C. suburbs. The festival featured eight artists, including Terrian, Micah Tyler, Tenth Avenue North, Andrew Ripp, Building 429, Blanca, Colton Dixon, and Jeremy Camp.

WGTS listeners were excited about the festival, buying all 1,200 tickets in just a few short weeks, with many more on the waiting list.

“Our vision is that every person leaves strengthened in their faith, encouraged in spirit, connected in community, and grounded in the ‘Unshakeable Hope’ in Christ,” wrote festival organizers.

In addition to uplifting music, festivalgoers, alongside artists and WGTS staff members, packed 10,000 meals to feed local families in the D.C. community.

“Listeners were excited, spending the entire day at the event and standing for much of it to sing along,” said WGTS morning show host and marketing director Jerry Woods. “It went so well that plans are already underway to bring it back as a two-day festival next year.”
