Dale Miller, of Carolina Christian Radio, Remembered as a Voice and a Builder
Dale Dee Miller, whose engineering hands and on-air voice shaped three decades of Christian broadcasting in southeastern North Carolina, passed from here to be with the Lord on August 23, 2026. He was 71.
For anyone who has ever fought with a radio station’s traffic system at 2 a.m, Dale’s story will sound familiar. When he arrived at Carolina Christian Radio, the station’s entire broadcast operation ran on two computers with no internet, still operating on DOS. Dale led the conversion from that platform in the mid-1990s, and the systems he built became the foundation Carolina Christian Radio still operates on today. Three decades later, the infrastructure he planted carries the Gospel across southeastern North Carolina and, through the station’s streaming apps, to listeners well beyond the reach of any tower.
Dale spent 30 years at Carolina Christian Radio, the last chapter of a working life that also included the United States Air Force, an electrician, and service as a missions and pastoral care coordinator.
Dale’s arrival at Christian radio was the moment he found what he considered his God-given calling.
Dale was a longtime, active member of Northside Church in Wilmington, NC where he served on the church’s Media Team, again, using his technical skills in direct service of Gospel ministry.
Outside of the radio station, Dale’s ministry had a particular focus. He carried a deep and lasting compassion for people experiencing homelessness and for survivors of human trafficking, and he served on the board of directors of First Fruit Ministries in Wilmington, NC, an organization close to his heart. Those who knew him well say that giving hurting people hope in Christ was the most meaningful part of his life’s work. That was as central to his legacy as anything he engineered in a control room.
Dale Miller’s three decades at Carolina Christian Radio leave a model to follow for an industry that runs on people willing to do the unglamorous engineering work that keeps a ministry on the air, and to do it while also being a voice listeners trusted. The systems he built are still carrying the signal, and in reality, so is he.
