WHIF 91.3 Hope FM Awarded $5,000 Community Impact Grant
WHIF 91.3 Hope FM has been awarded a $5,000 Community Impact Grant from the Rotary Club of Palatka to support its Student Essentials Initiative, an outreach providing socks and underwear to Putnam County elementary schools.
Each year, Hope FM partners with the community to provide hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies for local elementary schools, giving teachers resources to help students who arrive without the basic items they need to succeed. Ten years ago, while delivering those supplies, a school staff member shared another often-overlooked need: socks and underwear for students experiencing accidents, wet clothing, or financial hardship. That conversation inspired the Student Essentials Initiative, which helps children return to class with comfort, confidence, and dignity.
The grant will enable Hope FM to purchase and distribute new socks and underwear in a variety of sizes for elementary schools throughout Putnam County, ensuring school clinics and front offices have these necessities readily available for students in need.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Rotary Club of Palatka for believing in this project,” said Robin Robinson, Station Manager at Hope FM. “This grant allows us to continue meeting a simple but important need that helps children stay focused on learning while reminding them they are cared for.”
The award was presented as part of the Rotary Club of Palatka’s Shark Tank-inspired Community Impact Grant competition, where local nonprofits presented projects designed to make a meaningful difference in the community.
