Moody Radio, the broadcast ministry of Moody Global Media, is in its centennial year, which concludes on July 28, 2026. The first broadcast of WMBI (90.1 FM Chicago), one of the first noncommercial Christian radio stations, took place on July 28, 1926.

“As we continue our centennial celebration for Moody Radio, we stand at the intersection of a rich history and dynamic future,” said Wes Ward, head of Moody Global Media. Building upon the legacy of Moody Radio, Moody Global Media was launched last year to reach new and existing audiences where they are with the Good News of Jesus Christ and the Word of God through podcasts, social media, apps, websites and other digital channels. Moody Radio continues to be an industry leader and trusted voice in broadcast ministry.

In addition to specials such as “52 Names You Should Know” airing weekly across Moody Radio’s network of stations and numerous affiliates, several new features celebrating 100 years of proclaiming the gospel and the pioneers of Christian radio affiliated with Moody Radio are being launched soon.

Moody Radio announced today that a special web page – “Celebrating 100 Years of Proclaiming the Unstoppable Gospel” – launched today at www.moodyradio.org/100years. Celebrating how God has been working through Moody Radio and its faithful listeners, it also features a historic timeline of events over the past 100 years, stories of impact, and more.

Additionally, Moody Radio is beginning production on a short-form documentary, telling the rich history of pioneering Christian radio as well as the future related to digital content. Coupled with that, Moody’s publishing division, Moody Publishers, is also wrapping up production on a commemorative book, This is Moody Radio. This limited edition “coffee-style” book retells the incredible story of Christian broadcasting through the eyes of its pioneers through a captivating collection of photos, illustrations, timelines, personal narratives, and historical research.
