JOY99’s “JOYuary” Sets Record, Delivering Nearly 1,500 JoyJars to Children Battling Cancer
The spirit of joy and generosity was on full display this January as JOY99, Dunham+Company, and mission:activate celebrated the sixth consecutive year of its “JOYuary” partnership with the Jessie Rees Foundation, raising a record amount to deliver nearly 1,500 JoyJars to children fighting cancer.
JOYuary is a month-long listener-driven initiative that invites the JOY99 community to bring joy to kids facing some of life’s hardest battles. Each JoyJar, filled with age-appropriate toys, games, and activities, is delivered to hospitals and treatment centers to encourage children undergoing cancer treatment and remind them they are not alone.
At $30 per JoyJar, this year’s response surpassed all previous years of the partnership, making the 2026 JOYuary campaign the most successful to date.
“The generosity of West Michigan, and the Joy99 audience never ceases to amaze me. We are so blessed to have a part in watching God work to bring JOY to so many who could really use it. purpose,” said JOY99 General Manager, Brad Lanser.
Tommy Dylan, Program Director, concurred, stating “We spent the month of JOYuary delivering the messaging of JoyJars on-air, online, and on location. The strategy paid off! We hit an all- time high for this campaign – a total of $45,000 was raised! That’s nearly 1500 JoyJars! This is incredible. What a move of God! JoyJars touches the heart of our listeners, and the core values of JOY99. We couldn’t be more excited!”
The Jessie Rees Foundation, founded in memory of Jessie Rees, exists to deliver joy to kids fighting cancer worldwide. Since its inception, the foundation has distributed hundreds of thousands of JoyJars, each one serving as a tangible reminder that joy can coexist with hardship.
“We are so grateful for Joy99 and their compassionate listeners who generously donated so 1,500 JoyJars could be sent to children fighting cancer! Because of them, these innocent children will smile, laugh, and be reminded to Never Ever Give Up! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” – Erik Rees, Co-Founder & CEO, Jessie Rees Foundation.
JOY99 extends heartfelt thanks to its listeners, partners, and volunteers whose generosity made this record-setting year possible. As JOYuary concludes, the joy it sparked will continue — one JoyJar at a time.
