88.3 Life FM Partners with Other Stations to Address Food Insecurities

The loss of SNAP benefits has impacted thousands in our community, and the Salvation Army has been running out of food. Bakersfield’s local radio stations are teaming up to help meet the increased need.

Captain Clint Trimmer of the Salvation Army stated that they normally have 50 families a day coming for food, and they are now double that amount, and have not had enough food to keep up with the demand.

“In a time when everyone competes and points fingers, we want to focus on unity to make a bigger impact,” said Matt Pelishek, program director at Life FM, “partnering with Hill Broadcasting, we’d rather focus on the community instead of competing with ratings.” Danny Hill also encourages the community to show up to help, “Bakersfield, this is your way to give back to your neighbors and friends that you don’t know may need the help.”

This food collection takes place at the 88.3 Life FM studio at 6542 Rosedale Highway on Friday, November 14, from noon – 5pm. People are encouraged to bring non-perishable items, and can simply drive through and drop off their donations.

This food drive is being sponsored by Taco Bros, and every cent of the Taco Bros sponsorship also goes directly to the Salvation Army. Neither Life FM nor Hill Broadcasting is receiving any compensation of any kind.
