WPOZ Celebrates 30 Years of Broadcasting
WPOZ (Z88.3) recently celebrated its 30th anniversary on August 14.
The station’s journey began in the summer of 1987, when Founder and President Jim Hoge and Dean O’Neal (now VP/Director of Operations) first dreamed of launching a full-time CCM station in Orlando.
After discovering one remaining FM frequency at 88.3, they faced a major hurdle: interference with local TV station Channel 6. But by working together with the TV station, they engineered a solution by combining both signals into one antenna. That breakthrough cleared the way for WPOZ to sign on the air on August 14, 1995.
Thirty years later, “The Z” remains a staple in the Orlando community.
