KSWP/KAVX and Buckner Celebrate Successful Shoe Drive for East Texas Children
Lufkin, TX – Christian radio stations 90.9 KSWP and 91.9 KAVX partnered with Buckner Shoes for
Orphan Souls to collect 597 pairs of new shoes for vulnerable children across East Texas. The
shoes will be distributed during the Junior League of Lufkin’s Back to School Bonanza, providing
kids with the dignity and confidence that comes from starting the school year with a brand-new
pair of shoes.
“Each pair of shoes is a reminder to a child that they’re not alone,” said Michelle Ross,
President and General Manager of KSWP/KAVX. “Our listeners responded with compassion and
generosity, showing what happens when the local community comes together to serve others.”
This year’s collection marked an increase over previous years—not just in donations, but also in
the number of children and families needing support. Listeners, businesses, and churches
throughout the community stepped up to make a difference through donation drop-offs and
live broadcasts that spotlighted the mission.
“We’re thankful for the continued partnership with KSWP/KAVX,” added Shelly Smith, Executive Director of Buckner Children & amp; Family Services East Texas. “The shoes collected this summer will directly impact children right here in our area many of whom wouldn’t have new shoes without this drive.”
