KSBJ and Vida Unida Draw Thousands to First-Ever Fajita Fest

In a powerful show of faith, community, and culture, Houston radio stations 89.3 KSBJ and 91.7 Vida Unida partnered with the City of Jersey Village Memorial Day Weekend to host the inaugural Fajita Fest, drawing more than 8,000 attendees to the Houston suburb for a day of music, ministry, and mouthwatering food.

Held at Clark Henry Park, the event united families and individuals for a celebration far beyond fajitas. Over 600 pounds of meat, donated by Fajita Haus Meat Processors, was grilled and served by The Church at Jersey Village, with all proceeds supporting USO Houston and their vital work with military service members and their families.

The stage came alive with inspiring performances from Band Reeves, Lakewood Music Español, and headlining act Newsboys. Audiences were also treated to dynamic cultural showcases from the Sam Houston High School Mariachi Band and the Umalayapem Dance Company, representing the beautiful diversity of the Greater Houston area.

But perhaps the most powerful moments of the day happened offstage. 211 people were prayed with throughout the event as faith leaders, volunteers, and attendees leaned into God’s presence.

“As awesome as the stories are of listeners who attended and have been listening for years, it was truly wonderful to meet people who heard about Fajita Fest just by word-of-mouth,” said KSBJ Program Director Randy Fox. “Many weren’t even familiar with our stations — and that’s exactly why we do outreach. We witnessed lives changed by God’s faithfulness.”

Stories of hope and healing echoed throughout the festival grounds — from a man who survived being shot three times on Easter Sunday, to a grieving mother and daughter who find daily peace through Contemporary Christian music.

“There were countless stories,” added Fox. “All day long, we heard how God had used His music, His healing, and His presence to work His miracles.”

Fajita Fest marks a growing commitment by KSBJ and Vida Unida to build bridges in the throughout the Houston community through shared experiences centered on faith, family, and service.
