Local 88.3 Life FM Wins Best Media Outlet
88.3 Life FM has been voted as the best media outlet in Kern County.
The official announcement was released by the Bakersfield Californian on April 27th. It was the first year for this category which included all TV and radio stations. This marks the 6th year in a row Life FM has been voted by the community for a ‘best of’ award, following 5 years of the popular afternoon show, the ‘Afternoon Joy Ride’ being voted as Best Radio Personalities. They won this category for the entire time that it was available.
“We have a small staff, but we work really hard,” says Matt Pelishek, 88.3 Program Director. “Our goal has never been to receive an award, it’s been to pour hope into the community. There is so much worry and division and loneliness all around us, so our goal is to directly connect with the community as much as possible to bring hope to those places.”
88.3 Life FM was a finalist alongside KUZZ (radio) and KGET (TV). Pelishek added, “It was an honor to even be nominated alongside the biggest media outlets in our community who are also doing incredible work. We are SO thankful to all our listeners and the community for being willing to vote for us. We don’t see our listeners as an audience, but as part of the family.”
