The Light FM’s Listeners Fund More Than 2,000 Pre-term Ultrasounds
Through the “Heartbeat of Hope” campaign, which took place just before Mother’s Day, May 11-12, The Light FM listeners donated enough money to provide 2,242 women with ultrasounds and faith-based support. The station partnered with 18 area pregnancy centers to raise awareness about their services, including pregnancy tests, counseling, ultrasounds and post-abortion programs.
The Light FM’s campaign reminded listeners that they could provide women with an ultrasound and faith-based support for $175. The station shared the compelling message that 90% of women who are wrestling with a decision about their pregnancy will choose life when they see their child’s beating heart at a crisis pregnancy center. The flood of responses in such a short amount of time showed how much The Light FM’s listening community supports the shared mission of these centers.
This was the sixth year for “Heartbeat of Hope,” and gifts exceeded $390,000 and more commitments are still arriving. “We give God all the glory for the results we’ve seen from this year’s ‘Heartbeat of Hope’ fundraiser,” said Jim Kirkland, executive director of Blue Ridge Broadcasting. “Every dollar is going to the lifesaving work that these pregnancy centers are doing. That’s tangible, profound, life-impact given in Christ’s name!”

“Because of the generosity of The Light FM donors, we can help provide care for moms who sometimes find themselves in challenging situations. These donations stay right here in our neighborhoods,” said John Owens, general manager of Blue Ridge Broadcasting.
