WBCL Radio Network Listeners Raise Over $73,000 for LifeWise Academy
90.3 WBCL FORT WAYNE, IN – WBCL listeners raised $73,097 to provide Bibles and Bible classes during school hours to public-school students in the WBCL listening area. Over the summer, listeners were encouraged to donate $30 to support a month of bible classes for one student along with Bible. The Bible classes happen during school hours at an off-campus location. Listeners brought donations to our 30 sticker-stop locations and donated online. This amount will allow for over 2,400 kids to learn about the love of Christ during school hours through LifeWise Academy.
LifeWise is able to bring this opportunity to students based on The Supreme Court ruling (Zorach v. Clauson, 1952) which makes it both constitutional and legal for communities across the country to establish religious programs like LifeWise Academy that meet the three conditions outlined by the ruling: the programs are off school property, privately funded and parent permitted.
LifeWise Academy serves more than 150 school districts nationwide.
WBCL Executive Director, Ross McCampbell says, “There was a time when most kids in our culture had some exposure to Sunday school class at a church. Now, it’s rare to see parents who’ve had any Biblical instruction whatsoever. When we became aware of LifeWise Academy and how deeply the ministry touches young lives, this outreach was a no-brainer. This is Sunday school for today’s youth and the kids are demonstrating a ravenous appetite for God’s Word. LifeWise Academy needs to be available to every public-school student in the country.”
