Family Life Radio Listeners Voice Appreciation for Teachers

Family Life Radio (FLR) listeners called in from all over the country with their nominations for teachers who have made a difference not only in the lives of their children, but also in their families. This was all part of FLR’s Love Your Teacher, Love Your Schools contest that ran during the month of August.

Listeners shared how the teachers they knew use their own money to purchase clothing, sporting equipment, classroom supplies and more for their students. Tamera was nominated for paying for and putting together sack lunches for the kids at her school who wouldn’t otherwise receive lunch. She made such an impact, word caught on and the community now donates for her to purchase the items needed.

“We heard from so many listeners who have been forever impacted by the educators at their schools. These teachers are going above and beyond to help students and their families,” said Mike Kankelfritz, Chief Broadcast Engagement Officer for Family Life Radio. Christine was nominated because she was there for a listener’s family after the death of their son, whom she had previously taught, “She was there when we lost our son and continues to stay in touch and pray for our family.”

Educators were also nominated for their unique approach to teaching. Georgeanna shared how exceptional education teacher, Taylor, is creative with her students. “She is always coming up with fun ways to teach things like with tents around the room to make fun reading spots,” and ways for her son to still be able to learn even when overwhelmed with life and school.

While the contest may be over, FLR is encouraging listeners to pray for their schools. They’ve partnered with Moms in Prayer International and have valuable content, resources and community contacts for listeners at myflr.org to help make a powerful impact in their communities by uniting with others in prayer.
