89.3 KSBJ Recognizes Outstanding Service with Community Impact Awards

HOUSTON (February 13, 2023) – Dedicated Community Service. For the third year in a row, 89.3 KSBJ is honored to recognize members of our community who have gone above and beyond to show the spirit of generosity and service to those in need within our communities throughout the greater Houston area and beyond.

One award winner was selected from each of the following categories: Individual, Non-profit and Business. 89.3 KSBJ honored the award recipients with a reception and concert at Houston’s Bell Tower on 34th Street.

The Individual Award recipient was Kyle Buthod, known as an innovator, entrepreneur, and community builder. Following his career in the oil industry, Kyle leveraged his faith, skills and passion to participate in humanitarian efforts in Houston and throughout his travels to 38 countries in the last 15 years. Some of Kyle’s greatest contributions can be seen in his diversified portfolio of thriving business ventures, including Citizens Truck, a mobile coffee shop that provides financial assistance and support to various non-profit organizations.

The Non-profit Award recipient was Bethel’s Heavenly Hands. Since 1994, this ministry has been a beacon of light in Southwest Houston. Bethel’s Heavenly Hands meets the spiritual and practical needs of residents of the community and far beyond regardless of their zip code. What started as a small food pantry has grown into one of the largest pantries in Houston. In addition to food, they provide clothing, job training and other practical services. Pastor James Lee, Executive Director for Bethel’s Heavenly Hands graciously accepted the award on behalf of Bethel’s Heavenly Hands, a ministry of the Church at Bethel’s Family, Pastor Walter August.

The Business Award recipient was All Star A/C and Heating Services which saw an innovative way to bring laughter and a smile to children who are terminally ill with cancer. Founder Ed Newby’s inspiration came from wanting to do something for a personal friend’s child battling cancer. With the creative use of All Star A/C and Heating equipment, Operation Snowstorm was born with the mantra to “make it snow on childhood cancer.” They have dumped 10K lbs. of snowfor parties at the homes of nearly 70 children and their families.

“KSBJ loves the people across our communities,” shares KSBJ President & CEO, Joe Paulo. “There are so many individualsand organizations tirelessly working to make Houston an even better place to live and raise a family. Certainly, this year’s winners exemplify servant-heartedness and embodies our mission to “love Jesus, serve others and spread hope.”

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2022 KSBJ Community Impact Awards!
