91.3 WCSG Launches Simulated Radio Station for Kids

West Michigan’s 91.3 WCSG is investing in the next generation through a simulated radio station that brings the best of media, ministry, and education together as they officially open their new storefront in JA Biztown.

“JA Biztown,” a program through Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes, is a fully interactive marketplace where students play different roles designed to teach them how to run a business, apply for jobs, manage money, market their services, and more. WCSG’s storefront is a fully furnished studio featuring microphones, a soundboard, and a video green screen, as well as a remote-control WCSG-branded Jeep so kids can make stops around JA Biztown where they can give peers a chance to spin the prize wheel or secure underwriting opportunities.

“This partnership with JA Biztown is so meaningful to us,” says Alicia Wyant, Executive Director of WCSG. “It’s not only about teaching students how to run a radio station, it’s about showing them how media can be used to encourage others, strengthen communities, and empower people to share their voices.”

Formally opened on February 5, 2025, WCSG’s new storefront in JA Biztown places them alongside other prominent businesses from the community such as Bissell, Meijer, Perrigo, Gordon Food Service, and Chick-Fil-A. The program expects to serve over 10,000 students from across West Michigan this year alone.

“At WCSG, we believe media is a powerful tool that can bring hope, share truth, and foster a real connection,” says Wyant. “We’ve seen firsthand how young people, when given the right opportunities, can step into leadership and use their talents for good. That’s exactly what is happening here at JA Biztown. These students aren’t just learning how to communicate, they are learning how to lead, how to encourage, and how to be a voice for their generation.”
