Job Overview:
The Business Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operational functions of the radio station. This role ensures efficient business operations, supports station leadership, and enhances productivity across departments such as programming, sales, and technical teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of radio operations, and the ability to coordinate various administrative and operational activities within the station.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management: Oversee the smooth day-to-day operations of the radio station, ensuring all activities align with the station’s objectives and industry best practices.
Budget Management: Assist in the preparation, management, and monitoring of the station’s budget. Ensure cost-efficiency while maintaining high-quality services and operations.
Staff Coordination: Support GM in hiring, training, and supervising operational staff. Ensure proper coordination between departments (e.g., programming, sales, marketing, and technical teams).
Vendor Relations: Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, including equipment suppliers, maintenance contractors, tower leases, and other third-party services. Ensure contracts are fulfilled and services are delivered on time.
Policy and Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including FCC guidelines and other legal requirements. Maintain the station’s policies and procedures manual.
Inventory Management: Oversee inventory of station equipment, office supplies, and technical assets. Ensure necessary maintenance and replacement of equipment as required.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to operational workflows, policies, and procedures to enhance productivity and reduce operational bottlenecks.
Event Coordination: Assist with the coordination and execution of station events, promotions, and remote broadcasts, ensuring all logistical aspects are handled effectively.
Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on operational performance and provide insights to the Station Manager or General Manager regarding areas of improvement, trends, and efficiencies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a management role, ideally in radio, media, or entertainment industries.
Strong knowledge of radio operations and familiarity with FCC regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with station management software (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for long periods and occasionally lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment:
This is an on-site position that requires flexibility with hours, as the radio station operates at various times throughout the day and week, including weekends and holidays.
