WHEN DID YOUR PODCAST FIRST LAUNCH?

2021

WHAT IS THE MISSION & VISION OF YOUR PODCAST?

The Behind Our Smiles podcast is all about normalizing struggle and maximizing hope. By sharing the vulnerable stories behind the smiles of their marriage, Joe & Tara hope to let their listeners know they are not alone, and there is hope. They hope to give listeners tangible examples of healing and how to pursue connection with God and each other.

PODCAST ANALYTICS

Behind Our Smiles with Joe and Tara Buchanan generated 32,298 total downloads in 2025, averaging 2,692 downloads per month. The podcast’s highest single download day was September 25, 2025, with 660 downloads.

One important programming note is that Behind Our Smiles shifted from a weekly release schedule to an every-other-week schedule in mid-September 2025. As a result, download totals in the first part of the year were naturally stronger due to a higher volume of new episode releases. For episodes released in 2025, each episode averaged about 600 downloads. This coincides with a desire to put more effort into minute-long audio spots for Christian Radio stations to use, which is comprised of content from the podcast, called “The Behind Our Smiles Marriage Moment”. The thought was that the impact happening on the station has a larger impact/reach than the podcast. Overall, the show demonstrated consistent listener engagement throughout the year, with performance patterns reflecting both audience loyalty and the impact of the change in release cadence.

WHAT IS THE MISSION & VISION OF YOUR PODCAST?
The idea behind The Light FM’s Girl Talk podcast was to have a weekly, practical, real, and transparent conversation about everyday life issues women face: marriage, anxiety, friendships, calling, culture, and spiritual growth. The heart behind it was, and still is, real life, real faith presented with compassion and grace. Since 2018, the weekly discussion has let thousands of women know they are not alone.

Hosted by Carol Davis, Kelly Brandon, and Tricia Kelly, Girl Talk is an extension of the ministry mission of The Light FM: Lead as many people as possible into a personal and dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ and encourage spiritual maturity and active service. This is accomplished through in-person events and digital resources. Each year, the Girl Talk team hosts two LIVE podcast events and participates in speaking engagements for women’s events. Digital resources include engaging through the Girl Talk Facebook page, the Girlfriends of the Girl Talk Podcast Facebook group, and the Girl Talk texting group.

Engagement with the hosts continues to grow through the newly created online devotional that accompanies each episode. The material is provided for those who want to take a deeper dive into each week’s biblical topic and as an encouragement to put faith into action. Future vision includes a merch store, live-streaming, on demand content and syndication.

Girl Talk continues to build a trusted space where women feel seen, strengthened in their faith, and equipped to follow Jesus with confidence in their everyday lives and multiply disciples themselves.

WHAT IS THE MISSION & VISION OF YOUR PODCAST?

God is continually at work in the lives of ordinary people, and when those stories are told, faith grows.

Northwestern Media’s mission is to lead people to Christ and nurture believers in their spiritual growth through Christ-centered media. For years while serving on the air in Christian radio, we heard countless stories of the remarkable ways God was working in the lives of our listeners. In a music-based format we are often limited to sharing brief, two-minute glimpses of those powerful testimonies. As podcasting grew in popularity, it became the ideal platform to share these stories in their fullness, directly from the people who lived them, without the constraints of broadcast time.

The Unfolding podcast was created to share real-life stories of God’s faithfulness- stories that reveal how God uses the events and experiences of our lives to transform our faith. Each week, guests share their journeys through hardship, loss, doubt, and unexpected turns, while also describing how they encountered God’s presence and work in the midst of those circumstances. Our mission is to create space for authentic testimonies that point listeners back to the character and faithfulness of God.

The vision of The Unfolding is to use the platform of podcasting to reach listeners who are hungry for genuine faith stories told in a personal and relatable way. Long-form conversations allow listeners to step into someone else’s journey, creating connection and helping them recognize God’s faithfulness in their own lives.

The impact of The Unfolding is reflected in the voices of its listeners. We regularly receive messages and reviews from people who say these stories have strengthened their faith, renewed their hope in difficult seasons, and drawn them closer to Christ. As listeners hear these honest accounts of God at work, they are reminded that their own stories are still unfolding, and that God’s faithfulness is present in every chapter. The following listener reviews represent just a small sample of the many responses describing the life-giving impact of the podcast.

PODCAST ANALYTICS

The Unfolding has surpassed 4.5 million total downloads across all platforms. In 2025, the podcast generated 652,044 total downloads, reflecting steady listener engagement throughout the year.

The highest download week of 2025 was the week of May 5, with 14,704 downloads. This lift was driven by a coordinated content and promotional push around the Russ Taff episodes.

The highest singledownload day was December 19, with 3,626 downloads. This spike followed the release of Angels Among Us, Part 2: Near Death Encounters, Angels in Heaven.

WHAT IS THE MISSION & VISION OF YOUR PODCAST?

In Wally’s own words:
Almost half of all podcasts quit by the third episode. So, to be here years later, and at 20 million downloads means we are either really good, or not smart enough to quit. Either way, I am thankful to everyone who listens to our nonsense. I love the podcast because we can do what we can’t do on the radio. The conversations, the rants, the honesty-it’s kind of like therapy for me. The secret to a good podcast is letting the people who listen in. Giving them the true you both good and bad. I am beyond thankful for all our “Poddies” who get what we are trying to do.

The Aftercast was created for fans wanting more of the show’s humor, chemistry, and honest dialogue. The team often dives into life, faith, culture, and whatever Wally is fired up about that day. Even when the discussions turn deep, the show’s signature humor always keeps things grounded.

Launched in 2009, The Wally Show Podcast has grown into one of Christian radio’s most recognizable and engaging digital shows, now boasting thousands of episodes. Hosted by Wally, Betty Rock, and producer Gavin, the podcast releases two episodes every day:
● A replay of that morning’s radio show.
● The Aftercast—a podcast-only segment featuring deeper, longer, and often funnier conversations listeners won’t hear on air.

According to Wally, “If I had a dollar for every download I would be on a beach right now. But since I never made a dime off this thing. I’ll be here tomorrow.”
