Celebrate Your Boss!
Great bosses don’t just manage, they mentor, cheer, and set the tone for a thriving team. We’re giving special appreciation to some of the many who make the workday brighter, the mission stronger, and the people around them better. Here’s to a few of the difference makers leading with heart, humility, and vision!
SANDI BROWN
“BIG BOSS’ DAY” shout out to the one and only Sandi Brown…who set out on a mission nearly 25 years ago to be sure St. Louis had a Christian radio station that could not be sold (like the one she previously worked for)! The ministry here will soon have three full power radio signals, reaching a wide variety of audiences, PLUS a retail store sharing JOY with our city! Sandi leads with trust, compassion and vision that is unmatched. She is wicked smart, passionate and has a laugh that is contagious to all who work here – and the hundreds of thousands who listen to the morning show! However, the coolest thing to see is that she still gets the most excited when she sees God do what only He can do, inside and outside of the ministry!” – Brandi Reichert / Director of Strategic Marketing, JOY FM
SCOTT HERROLD
“I really admire Scott Herrold’s leadership. The way he casts vision has stretched me and helped me grow into a better leader myself. I love how he sees where content is headed for media ministry into 2030 and beyond, and how he challenges those he leads to think bigger right alongside him. I’m grateful for the impact he’s had on me personally and our teams.” – Jeff Evans / VP of Radio, Hope Media Group
JOHN OWENS
“Leaders take calculated risks. Leaders move mission and vision forward. Leaders are the cheerleaders that encourage us along the way. Those are three things I appreciate most about John Owens. John has a heart for putting people in the right places, and then allowing them to shine in their roles. He continues to pour mission/vision into us, so we are all focused on one unified goal. Grateful for his leadership of our team at The Light FM.” – Jonathan Unthank / Assistant Director, Programming & Content, The Light FM (WMIT)
KENNY RODGERS
“When I first started on the label side of the industry, I had no idea what to expect, a whole lot to learn, and the next week was Momentum where one of my first tasks was a Costco trip with my new boss, Kenny Rodgers. As nervous as I was, it didn’t take long for me to realize that I was very fortunate to have walked on to Kenny’s team. He shows up every day with enthusiasm, has endless passion for our artists, an unwavering support for the team, and never fails to match my weird, hyper energy and humor. Thanks for making the work in the trenches fun – and for not killing me (or anyone else) that one time you drove in the bicycle lane in Portland!” – Ashley Sirinakis / National Promotion Manager, CCMG
JASON SHARP
“When you watch people in an organization thriving and enjoying being together, there’s a leader up front with a passion for a healthy culture. Jason Sharp is Northwestern Media’s Sr. VP, and the best culture leader I’ve ever seen. I am grateful that Jason models the statement heard at Momentum, ‘people are the priority.’ The result is leaders around the network see it, experience it, and do the same. Happy Boss’ Day from every ‘Northie’ in Northwestern Media!” – Dave St. John / Sr Director, Media Markets / Northwestern Media
MATT STOCKMAN
Matt Stockman?!? Name’s familiar…oh yeah, tall guy grey beard…without a doubt, one of the best bosses I’ve ever had. Thoughtful, encouraging (like REALLY encouraging, not lip-service “encouraging”.) He’s a great communicator, a gifted teacher, mentor, listener and friend. I have learned so much about managing by watching him work. He is quick to defend when I’ve said something I shouldn’t (like a Jesus “pull my finger” joke). From day one he’s been my champion and cheerleader. He makes me feel valued and fosters my desire to be brilliant! – Skip Mahaffey / Creative Director & Talent Coach, Pillar Media
JEFF TWILLEY
“Jeff Twilley is the type of leader who doesn’t seek to be the loudest person in the room. Instead, he does well what many of us struggle to do, he listens. At Bridge events you can often find him around the listeners, meeting them and getting to know their stories. Around the office, he’s intentional about following up with the staff, asking how vacation went or checking in on the status of a prayer request. Jeff leads by example, showing that kindness and the ability to make people feel seen and heard goes a long way in our industry, and in life in general. Happy Boss’ Day Jeff 🎉 Thanks for leading our Bridge Team well!” – Lindsay Lyons / Digital Content Producer, The Bridge
CHARLES VAN DYKE
“Charles Van Dyke is one of the best in our industry. Charles works with so much heart and expertise. He has a love for radio and helping the stations in any way he can. We are so grateful to have him leading our team and encouraging the entire industry to move forward.” – Meredith Layne, Siara Swinehart & Aubry Saranto / Promotion Team, Provident
BRENNAN WIMBISH
“Brennan truly cares about his team and never asks us to do anything he wouldn’t do himself. He’s the perfect example of servant leadership.” – Rob Conway / Music & Research Director, WGTS
MANDY YOUNG
“I have so much respect for my boss, Mandy Young. Not only for what she’s accomplished in our industry, but for the way she’s done it. She leads with such a rare mix of strength and humility. Just this year, Mandy has opened doors to people who have never been in radio, elevated many others, and shown us all what it looks like to lead with faith, excellence, and HEART. She inspires people to always remember the bigger mission behind what we do. Her impact has shaped K-LOVE/Air1, and this industry in ways that will be felt for years to come.” – Troy West / PD, K-LOVE
