I know I am not the only one that has kids that seem to need my constant attention. I know I am not the only one that needs to go to work, clean the house, go grocery shopping, and not to mention, actually sit down and have a conversation with my spouse. And I know I am not the only one who struggles to find the time to open my Bible every morning.
There are so many distractions in this world but I take heart knowing that I am not the only one that struggles to sit in the quiet. We read in Luke 5:16 that even Jesus would withdraw to deserted places to pray. Luckily we don’t have to leave town to spend time alone with God, but we do need to set aside the time to spend time with Him. Whatever it takes for you to have uninterrupted time with Jesus through prayer and time in His word, take the necessary steps to do it every day. God desires quiet time with us. He wants a personal relationship with us. He created us as individuals, “knitting” us in the womb (Psalm 139:13).
Spending time alone with God is simple but the impact it can make on our life is more powerful than any other way we can spend our time. It is the best investment we will ever make.
