In Daddy’s Arms

Press In
Face to heart

The rhythm of peace
The pace of comfort
The breath of safety

Serenity surrounds

Distanced from demand and desire
Camouflaged from pain
Hidden from chasing lies
Shielded from hunting, haunting shame

She is six years old. Loves princesses. As a matter of fact, she has convinced herself that she is really Elsa, Ice powers and all. She adores the color purple, and elephants. She likes to create, and craft. She laughs, sings, and smiles a lot.

But when she is scared, upset, or tired, guess where she finds respite?

In her Daddy’s arms…

It never matters what has happened in the moments before – She balls up to get on my lap, and makes sure her head is right next to my heart. In those precious and privileged moments, we listen to each other breathe. She feels safe. Comforted. Calmed. Loved.

Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me,’ and in those moments before he moved on to share another parable – It makes me wonder if one of them didn’t just ball up in his lap? Head to chest. Safe in the arms of love. Listening to the heart of God.

Isn’t that where you want to be?

God gave us the privilege of being called Children of God (John 1:12) So the invitation is always open…Let the children come…

It doesn’t matter what has happened in the moments…the months…the years before…climb up, head to heart, and just be held.
