Fully-Engaged Worship

Do you know a rule-follower? You know, the person who waits patiently on the curb for the crosswalk light to change even though there is no traffic for blocks. They like deadlines and schedules, step-by-step instructions. They make sure they leave a public area cleaner than when they found it, even picking up other people’s trash. They just can’t help themselves.

The Apostle Paul points out in Colossians 2 that simply following certain rules will not make us right in God’s eyes. Christ, and knowing the reality of His salvation, is what sets the foundation to our understanding of how to live Holy and worship-filled lived. Human rules that are based on human teaching are temporary. They have the appearance of wisdom, but lack any value.

Only Jesus can make us right with God. When we are right with God, unrestrictive worship happens. True worship in spirit and in truth happens when we are fully engaged with God.

Being fully engaged in worship means we serve others. It starts with us. We are always asking ourselves, how can we better serve our audience today? Why not also ask, how can we better serve our staff members, their families and our own families.

When we are walking in step with the direction of the Holy Spirit in our lives, this fully-engaged worship becomes a natural extension of everything we do.
