Celebrating 35 Years on the Air – 89Q’s 3rd Annual Hope in the Park with SCC

89Q (WCLQ, Wausau, WI) enjoyed another successful Hope in the Park on Sunday, August 27. This free annual listener appreciation concert featured Steven Curtis Chapman. Around 5000 attended the event that included SCC, kid’s activities, food vendors, worship, and donations to a local food pantry.

General Manager Coy Sawyer said the event fulfilled many outreach purposes. Bob Lenz from Life Promotions and a local Pastor shared the forgiveness story and how the ultimate forgiveness and power to forgive comes from Jesus Christ. Many decisions were made for salvation and healing past hurts and bitterness. “We are grateful that the commitment made by our team here at 89Q and the 200 volunteers from our greater Wausau area could make life-change happen through Hope in the Park.”

Thrivent invited concertgoers to bring non-perishable food items to support Community Action Partnership). As a result of 89Q’s Hope in the Park, CAP restocked the pantry completely (over 1300 items!) plus they can now re-stock Cross Church. “We thank 89Q and Thrivent for their kindness and generosity. We also purchase food from Feeding America and Thrivent is also making a $3000 donation to CAP so we can stay supplied for months to come. Thanks to all who made this a successful day both spiritually and physically!”, said Robin Wilde CAP Director.

89Q plans to host Hope in the Park for the fourth straight year in 2024.
