Tough Times

As I travel the USA and other countries, I have found one thing we all have in common.  Tough times finds us all.  There are times when we make a dumb mistake and yet other times life just happens.During those time we often find ourselves feeling hopeless and in despair.  During one of those seasons I came across these two verses and they really have encouraged me. I’ve come back to this verse many times through the years.

Psalm 51:17, Heart-shattered lives ready for love don’t for a moment escape God’s notice.”

I don’t know about you but this verse was the shot in the arm that I needed and still do from time to time. God is so crazy about us that He actually takes time to notice that our hearts have been broken.

Psalm 56:8, “You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights, Each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book.”

I don’t know where you are today. Like many of us, you might feel lonely, forgotten and you feel you haven’t heard from God in a while. These two verses are my go-tos.  To think that God has kept track of every turn during those stressful nights. King David was the one to ask God to keep track of his tears. I read this recently, “The idea behind the keeping of “tears in a bottle” is remembrance. David is expressing a deep trust in God—God will remember his sorrow and tears and will not forget about him. David is confident that God is on his side. He says, in the midst of this troubling time, “This I know, God is for me” (Psalm 56:9, ESV) and “In God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?” (verse 11, ESV). God may not have an actual bottle where our tears are kept or a literal book where sorrows are recorded, but He nonetheless remembers all the things that happen in our lives, including the suffering endured for His sake. In fact, there are many instances in Scripture of God’s recognition of man’s suffering. God is a tender-hearted Father to us, a God who feels with us and weeps with us.”

I would encourage you to keep putting your trust in God, even when He seems silent. I truly do believe the best is yet to come. I know the journey at times can be tough but great things are waiting for you.

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

What if you left St. Louis with an entirely new lens through which to view and act upon improvements in:

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
