Nashville’s 94 FM the Fish has been partnering with local service providers for “You Matter Saturday” events. The goal of each event is to serve local low income neighborhoods with fresh food, free healthcare screenings and vouchers, and assistance with personal money management and banking.
The first “You Matter Saturday” in June helped 273 families with basic needs, and had unique happenings also. One attendee became sick and needed medical attention. He was concerned that if he went to the hospital as recommended, he would not be able to take home the food he needed, so the staff of 94 FM the Fish jumped in to assure him they would take care of it. Medical staff on hand at the event said the man’s blood pressure had been in a critical state and attending this event likely saved his life.
94 FM the Fish will be serving Nashville area neighborhoods with “You Matter Saturdays” through the end of the year.
