Tell us about your station:

Since its inception in 2002, (first known as “The One” and one year later renamed “The Fish” 94 FM the Fish has been Nashville’s only commercial Contemporary Christian Station. Weil known for music, personality and community involvement, the Fish continues to serve Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Doug Griffin is Nashville’s best known and longest tenured Christian radio personality. CJ McKay anchors midday and Caryn Cruise host afternoons. The Fish Nashville is also the flagship syndication station for “Nightlight with Andrea” and “Keep the Faith with Penny”. We uniquely utilize three signals to cover the entire market and beyond.

Your station’s most successful promotion:

94 FM the Fish believes that a Christmas outreach to the market helps to continue to bring listeners to the format and introduce listeners to Jesus. For the 13 years, from Thanksgiving to Christmas, the Fish is “Nashville’s Family Christmas Station” not only with the “all Christmas” music format, but with an outreach to the community. Beginning with our fundraising for the Nashville Rescue Mission, our annual giving campaign for Prison Fellowship, along with other seasonal giving highlights, 94 FM the Fish has been successful at attracting more and more listeners every single year and converting them to regular new listeners beginning each January.

Resources your station uses:

94 FM the Fish is owned and operated by the largest Christian media company, the Salem Media Group. That relationship helps to bring many valuable resources, including research, consultation, mobile apps and websites and a “can do” approach to success in growing the audience, and serving our listeners and clients. We are constantly evaluating our product and identifying new ways to help enhance our programming.

One bit of wisdom to share with others:

There will always be limitations and challenges with our resources. The real satisfaction that can be gained at a Christian station is in serving the listener and making life changing impact, regardless of the size of the audience or the competition in the market. We work in a format with a divine purpose. Christian radio’s best days are now and in the future. Continue to look for ways that you and your station can be “better”, every single day!

Here’s a recent email we received about how God used the music on the Fish to impact a life. Douglas Lee? to 94 FM The Fish

I don’t, normally, leave postings or testimonials. But, this is different. In a nutshell: I was listening to “The Fish” on my way home, after having a few terrible days at work, and the five songs starting when I got in my car, were exactly what I needed to hear, in that precise order. They were: Thrive, Home, Shine, Greater, and the summation of those four, was Compassion.
Thanks so much for all that you do. PS: You’re number one on my radio turner, the One that I listen to the most…

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…
