KSBJ Educational Foundation is a Christ-centered, non-profit, listener-supported radio ministry. We are followers of Jesus Christ, Son of God, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. As a listener-supported Christian station, we’re able to focus on creating the kind of radio that encourages listeners not only to “sing along, but live along with us,” and impact lives for Christ.

Your station’s most successful promotion:

Our most popular annual promotion is our Love That Sticks campaign done in the month of February. Love That Sticks reminds our listeners of God’s unfailing love and encourages them to share that love with others through uplifting messages.

Resources your station uses:

Having people around who can give us good counsel is awesome. We’re consulted by John Frost with Goodratings, and do perceptual research projects and focus groups, with Mark Ramsey, John Parikhal and others fairly regularly. We’re also blessed to have KSBJ Mentoring as part of our radio station, led by Jon Hull, and they’re a great resource for us, as well as for the entire CCM radio industry.

This isn’t a “resource” per se, but just good old-fashioned coaching and giving attention to our shows is a big help. We don’t use a lot of prep sheets, or websites, etc. since life is the best prep, but there are a handful – here’s a good one: http://www.takingitdeeper.com

One bit of wisdom to share with others:

A great piece of wisdom I’m happy to share comes from Talent Coach, Valerie Geller. In her book Beyond Powerful Radio, she says this to those of us who communicate for a living: “Tell the truth. Make it matter. And NEVER be boring.” That’s such a simple, but profound, piece of advice. As a communicator if I’m authentic, connected to listeners so that what I say matters, and skillful in making what I say memorable, then I stand a good chance of making a difference in that listeners’ life.

Share an impactful listener story:

After hearing about our Giving Tree program, a listener called and said his 8 year old daughter has chosen to forgo one of her Christmas gifts in order to give to a homeless man they frequently saw outside a grocery store. They asked the man how they could bless him during this Christmas season and were able to provide him with warm clothes and a bite to eat!

Tell us why you’re a member of CMB:

KSBJ staff are members of Christian Music Broadcasters because of the educational and networking opportunities it provides to Christian radio stations like us! The various tools CMB offers better equip us to reach listeners in our community for Christ!

Wise, Weird & Welcome: Learning and Leading with the Lepers and the Locust Eaters

We’ve all read the same books about teamwork, leadership, communication, and culture that everybody reads. We’ve mastered Maxwell, studied Sanborn, Sinek, and Sun Tzu, and liberally cribbed Collins in aborted attempts to go from good to great, but…

How’s that working out for you?

What if you left St. Louis with an entirely new lens through which to view and act upon improvements in:

Let’s examine how this all connects together, but approach it from an entirely different angle. Don’t just think outside the box. Kick the box to the curb and start at zero.
